This weekend has been insanely hectic. We had MPC (mini-mission for the older young men and women preparing to go on missions) from Friday to Sunday. My companion and I both got an MPC companion--mine was named Luke. Luke is a smart 17 year-old kid who wants to study animal science when he goes to uni. It was awesome to be with a young man who wants to go on a mission and is working toward preparing by gaining real life experience.
Elder O'Riordan (a seventy) came this weekend as well to train all the zone leaders and sister training leaders, and we had an incredible meeting with him. He's a bold but calm leader, and when he speaks, you can tell he speaks with conviction which comes from his own personal experiences.
On Sunday night we had a Christmas missionary fireside: all the MPC youth and their missionary companions sang that medley "As sisters in zion" mixed with the song that goes "We are as the army of Helaman". The spirit in that meeting while we were singing was amazing: probably one of the top 3 times I've ever felt it in my life--it was one of those moments where you feel a glimpse of what the Celestial Kingdom is like.
I have just been transferred to the City Zone today: my new companion is Elder Ruppe, and we're the City Zone Leaders. I'm nervous, but I know this will be a great opportunity. The City Zone is the testing ground for all of President Parker's big new ideas. We (the church) own a building in the city, which has been made into a teaching center. Missionaries bring investigators into the teaching center and book rooms to teach them. We use iPads for teaching purposes as well as portable gospel displays, and we do all of the big events. I'll keep you updated as things go. Love you Mom!
